It's been a month since I made the Christmas cake and in the meantime it has been well fed with quite a lot of whisky. It's only a few days now till the big day so it was time to get it finished off. ( Cake of yumminess )

I had to find a different recipe for the cake this year as I was no longer able to get the Glutafin gluten-free flour I'd used for the past four years. The recipe came from the actual flour manufacturers so I wasn't sure how well it would work with a different mix. One of the neighbours came by the other day to give us a load of windfall apples from her garden. She ends up with such a large amount that she shares them out among the surrounding houses. You may remember I was asking about buckwheat pancakes recently. I had a go at making those on Saturday. The batter was waaay thicker than the usual one so I had to add extra milk which meant that I ended up with more pancakes. Damn.
